COMMISSION POLICY

SUBJECT: ESSSB 5560 GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS REQUIREMENTS

Whereas, it is the mission of the District to provide quality water and sewer service within the District’s service area at reasonable costs; and

Whereas, the efficient use of energy resources for such things as vehicles, heating, cooling, pumping, and the waste water treatment plant (wwtp) processes affect the reasonable costs of providing such service; and

Whereas, the efficient use of energy resources also impacts the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the District’s operation.

Energy Efficiency Program. To reduce energy requirements of the District and reduce greenhouse emissions, the District will annually review energy use and look for cost effective ways to reduce the amount of energy used in its operations. Specific areas of the District’s operations that will be looked at include, but are not limited to;

  • District buildings heating, cooling, and lighting usages.
  • WWTP processes
  • Vehicle miles traveled and fuel-efficiency
  • Water and sewer pumping requirements
